The Special Investigations Unit has reportedly been called in after a black woman named Regis Korchinski-Paquet fell to hear death on Wednesday evening.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) arrived at an apartment complex in Toronto’s High Park neighborhood on Wednesday at approximately to resolve a domestic incident. After arriving, authorities traveled to the 24th floor where they claim to have found a woman on the balcony.
“A short time later, the woman fell from the balcony to the ground below,” authorities stated.

Korchinski-Paquet was later pronounced dead.
In the hours following the fatal incident, members of Korchinski-Paquet’s family have alleged foul play. Specifically, Korchinski-Paquet’s mother and cousin have both asserted that local authorities forced the 29 year-old woman off the balcony.

Four investigators have been assigned to the case. No further developments have been made regarding the fatal incident.
