Russell Westbrook is getting used to being blunt to the media. I think he likes setting the tone that he’s a player and because he’s a player, he doesn’t think about the things that the fans talk about or the things the media is paid to talk and write about.
In this case, Reggie Jackson is someone he doesn’t think about anymore, sure it was a storyline talking about his return to Oklahoma City but Westbrook doesn’t care.
“Who?” Westbrook replied.
Reporter: “Reggie Jackson.”
Westbrook: “What happened?”
Reporter: “There was a lot of anticipation about his return to OKC.”
Westbrook: “From who?”
Reporter: “Media, fans, various people.”
Westbrook: “Nobody in this locker room. We wasn’t worried, we just came out and competed. Maybe from y’all. Just another player on another team.“
That says it all really. Media, fans, various people.
Russell Westbrook is none of these three. And I think it’s fine. Jackson is happy in Detroit, Westbrook has no need to waste oxygen on talking about it. And Reggie Jackson doesn’t mind, he is one of those players that doesn’t mind boos from the OKC crowd. Safe to say he’s filly embraced the Pistons way.
