The Detroit Pistons have been without point guard Reggie Jackson so far this season. After suffering a knee injury in early October, Jackson was deemed to be out 6-8 weeks. However, the point guard could be back to help his team sooner than expected.
According to coach and team president Stan Van Gundy, Jackson is progressing as expected and could get back on the practice court as early as next week.
Following via Aaron McMann of Michigan Live:
“I would say over the next week or two he’ll start to be ale to get a little bit of activity and go from there,” Van Gundy said. “But I don’t know exactly when that will be.
“He says he feels good, though. He said both the knee and the thumb, everything feels good. So that’s a positive.”
The Pistons have thus far started Ish Smith (who signed in Detroit this summer) in Jackson’s absence. That’s worked fairly well as they are 3-1 for the season. But they will need Reggie Jackson back as soon as possible in order to make a significant run. The Pistons are looking to improve upon an impressive season last year; they need full health to do it.
