Paul Pierce lead the team with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists as the Washington Wizards beat the New York Knicks 98-83. Wizards played very well overall as a team and fought hard against the Knicks who were feeling very good after two big wins recently against the Hornets and the Cavaliers.
Garrett Temple had 17 points and 5 rebounds starting at shooting guard for the Wizards. Center Kevin Seraphin came off the bench and had 15 points for the Wiz who pulled away with a 14-0 run in the third quarter and won its third consecutive game. Backup point guard Andre Miller added 12 points and 3 assists. The star point guard John Wall had 11 points and 7 assists.
Iman Shumpert had 19 points for the Knicks,played 31 minutes and made all four 3-pointers. The Knicks who had won their last two games, are now 2-2. Carmelo Anthony chipped in 18 points but shot 8 for 23 from the floor and pulled in 6 rebounds. Amar’e Stoudemire had 6 points and 12 rebounds. J.R. Smith only had 6 points coming off the bench for the Knicks, smith played 24 minutes.
The Wizards swept the series last season and haven’t lost to the Knicks since April 9, 2013 making this their fourth straight win over NYK.
