10 years to the day in which the ugliest day in the NBA’s history happened, the Malice At The Palace, the Pistons took on the Phoenix Suns in Detroit at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Phoenix Suns though came out victorious in a tight contest, 88-86.
Eric Bledsoe scored 18 points, including the winning basket with 28.7 seconds to play with 6 rebounds and 4 assists. P.J. Tucker added 16 points for the Suns off the bench with 7 rebounds. Goran Dragic scored 12 with 4 assists on the night. The Morris twins combined for 15 points on the night. Gerald Green had 12 points with 4 assists.
Brandon Jennings scored 19 points with 7 assists to lead Detroit. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 15 points on the night. Greg Monroe put up a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
The Suns held Detroit to 37.9-percent shooting, including just 7 for 25 on 3-pointers. An oddly strong defensive night for the Suns who have struggled from time to time to play defense even against some of the leagues worst teams.
The closest thing to a repeat of that horrible night came in the second quarter, when Markieff Morris and Caldwell-Pope exchanged shoves and got face to face before being separated by officials and teammates.
