NBA games from 11/16/14
The NBA on Sunday was littered with a couple blowouts and some great individual performances but the main attraction was a small scuffle between two teams.
Denver Nuggets vs New York Knicks. Knicks defeat Nuggets 109-93.
A strong second quarter helped the Knicks defeat the Nuggets to end their 7 game losing streak. Denver missed their first 15 shots of the period before Ty Lawson’s lay-up at the buzzer ended the nearly 13-minute drought. New York outscored Denver 31-8 in the quarter to blow it open.
Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith each scored 28 points to lead New York. Anthony had 9 rebounds to go along with his scoring output while Smith added 4 rebounds and 4 assists to go along with his point total. Amar’e contributed 9 points and 6 rebounds off the bench.
Arron Afflalo had 18 points with 4 rebounds and 3 assists, Ty Lawson put in 17 points with 9 assists and Kenneth Faried chipped in 16 points with 9 rebounds.
The reeling Nuggets have lost 7 of their last 8 games.
Denver Nuggets are 2-7. New York Knicks are 3-8.

Milwaukee Bucks vs Miami Heat. Bucks defeat Heat 91-84.
Brandon Knight came home to Miami and drained 3, three-pointers in the final minutes of the game to put down the Miami Heat.
Knight dropped 20 points with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Jabari Parker added 13 points with 6 rebounds for the Bucks. Larry Sanders, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Zaza Pachulia all scored 11 points each. Sanders finished with 11 and 6 rebounds, Antetokounmpo had 11 and 7 rebounds and Pachulia had 11 and 5 rebounds off the bench. Khris Middleton also had 10 points coming off the bench.
Heat had all 5 starters score in double figures with Shabazz Napier also scoring 10 with 5 rebounds off the bench. Mario Chalmers had 18 points with 5 assists. Shawne Williams contributed 13 points with 11 rebounds, Norris Cole had 11 points, Luol Deng and Chris Bosh ad 10 points each. Deng also contributed 6 rebounds and Bosh had 5 rebounds with 5 assists.
Heat struggled without the presence of Dwyane Wade and Danny Granger in this game, both of which were not playing.
Milwaukee Bucks are 5-5. Miami Heat are 5-5.

Houston Rockets vs Oklahoma City Thunder. Rockets defeat Thunder 69-65.
James Harden scored 19 points with 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Dwight Howard had 12 points and 9 rebounds for Houston while Patrick Beverley dropped 12 points and grabbed 8 boards. Trevor Ariza had 11 points and 4 rebounds for Houston.
Jackson had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Thunder, Lance Thomas added 15 points and Serge Ibaka had 10 points with 6 rebounds.
The game featured four technical fouls, a flagrant 1 and a lot of exchanged words.

Both teams shot below 30 percent from the field — the last time that happened was Oct. 29, 2003, when Denver beat San Antonio 80-72. Houston shot just 28.8 percent. The last time an NBA team won with a lower percentage was on Feb. 19, 2000, when Chicago shot 28.6 percent and beat the Los Angeles Clippers 74-72.

Golden State Warriors vs Los Angeles Lakers. Warriors defeat Lakers 136-115.
This game was the Warriors from the start. They held a first quarter lead and never looked back, blowing the Lakers out.
Stephen Curry had 30 points and 15 assists to lead the Warriors, Marreese Speights came off the bench and added 24 points with 9 rebounds. Klay Thompson, who had a career high 41 points in his last encounter with Los Angeles, contributed with 18 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Andrew Bogut had 15 including his 12 first quarter points and also grabbed 10 rebounds. Harrison Barnes had 14 points and Draymond Green added 10 points and 8 rebounds. All in total, 7 Warriors scored in double figures including a 10 point bench effort from Andre Iguodala.
Kobe Bryant, as usual, led the way for the Lakers with a season high 44 points, even though he missed the entire fourth quarter. Jordan Hill had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and was the only other Lakers starter to score in double figures. Ed Davis, Robert Sacre and Jordan Clarkson all had 10 off the bench, but most of it was scored in garbage time. The Lakers need some help for Kobe, and fast.
Golden State Warriors are 8-1. Los Angeles Lakers are 1-9.
