The NBA on Sunday featured some exciting matchups between some hot teams in the league. It also featured the last undefeated team, receiving their first loss as well as the one winless team receiving their first victory on the year.
Orlando Magic (2-5) at Brooklyn Nets (4-2). Nets defeat Magic 104-96.
International rookie sensation Bojan Bogdanovic led the way for the Nets with a season-high 22 points. Bogdanovic’s three with under 6 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter sparked a Nets’ 15-7 run to seal a 104-96 victory against the Magic. Mason Plumlee added 12 points and 10 rebounds while Deron Williams scored 18 and Kevin Garnett scored 8 but each had 7 assists for Brooklyn. The Nets finished with a 45-31 rebounding advantage over Orlando.
Nikola Vucevic led the Magic with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Vucevic scored 17 of Orlando’s 25 points in the third quarter as the Magic trailed 81-77 entering the fourth quarter. Vucevic hands down has the quietest consistent double-double in the league, this guy keeps doing great things for the Magic. Evan Fournier scored 19 points in the loss for the Magic.

Utah Jazz (3-4) at Detroit Pistons (2-4) . Jazz defeat Pistons 97-96.
Gordon Hayward had 17 points, including a game-tying 3 with 4:01 to play and then a go-ahead 3 two minutes later. Derrick Favors finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds for Utah, Enes Kanter had 14 points and 11 boards. Rookie Dante Exum had 9 points and 5 assists off the bench.
Jennings had 23 points and 5 assists. Greg Monroe had 19 points and 11 rebounds for Detroit, and Andre Drummond added 11 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. All 5 starters for Detroit put up double figures in points including Josh Smith who scored 13 and grabbed 9 boards and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope who had 11 points.

Sacramento Kings (5-2) at Oklahoma City Thunder (2-5). Thunder win 101-93.
Reggie Jackson took advantage of his chance to be the man for the Thunder and he scored 11 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter to help Oklahoma City beat the Kings. Jackson also had 6 assists. The Thunder starting point guard scored 8 points in the final 2:17, including going 6 of 7 from the free throw line. Jeremy Lamb scored 17 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. Serge Ibaka had 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks, and Sebastian Telfair added 14 points off the bench for the Thunder. The Thunder entered the game as the lowest-scoring team in the league, but they shot 46 percent from the field versus Sacramento.
Rudy Gay had 23 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists, and DeMarcus Cousins and Ben McLemore each added 16 points for the Kings. Cousins pulled down 7 rebounds and McLemore shot 4-6 from three. Darren Collison had 12 points and dished out 7 assists.

Philadelphia 76ers (0-7) at Toronto Raptors (6-1). Raptors blowout Sixers 120-88.
DeMar DeRozan scored 24 points with 6 rebounds, Terrence Ross had 17 with 5 rebounds and the Raptors routed the winless 76ers for their 6 victory in 7 games. Lou Williams came off the bench and added a season-high 16 against his old team. Kyle Lowry had 14 with 3 assists for the Raptors, who are alone atop the Eastern Conference. 6 Raptors scored in double figures including Jonas Valanciunas who had 12 and Greivis Vasquez who had 13 from off the bench.
Tony Wroten scored 18 points with 5 assists and Henry Sims had 12 with 8 rebounds but they were the only Sixers starters to score in double figures. Chris Johnson came off the bench and had 16 for the 76ers. Alexey Shved had 14 off the bench and rookie sensation KJ McDaniels had 11. The Sixers, who are 0-7 have also lost for the 70th time in their past 86 regular-season games.
Toronto set a season high in points against the Sixers, who also allowed 118 points against Chicago on Friday. Toronto has started 4-0 at home for the first time since the 2003-04 season. Toronto has gone 25-7 in home regular-season games since Jan. 1, 2014.

Miami Heat (5-2) at Dallas Mavericks (4-3). Heat defeat Mavericks 105-96.
Luol Deng scored a season-high 30 points, Bosh and Wade added 20 apiece and the Heat have stayed perfect against Dallas since their 2011 NBA Finals matchup with a 105-96 victory on Sunday night. Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade scored 20 points each for the Heat. Bosh and Wade also had double-doubles on the night, Bosh had 10 rebounds while Wade had 10 assists. Mario Chalmers contributed 18 points and 4 assists off the bench.
Monta Ellis led the Mavericks with 23 points including the first 10 for Dallas in the third quarter. Ellis also had 5 assists. Dirk Nowitzki scored 17 points with 6 rebounds. Tyson Chandler had season highs with 16 points and 15 rebounds and JJ Barea scored three points in 13 minutes. Chandler Parsons had just 4 points and is 2 of 20 from the field the past two games. Jae Crowder came off the bench to score 15 points for Dallas.

Golden State Warriors (5-1) at Phoenix Suns (4-3). Suns defeat the NBA’s last undefeated team, beat Warriors 107-95.
Isaiah Thomas scored 15 of his 22 points in the fourth and bench mate Gerald Green added 16 of his 19 points in the final quarter. Goran Dragic finished with 19 points and Marcus Morris with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Those were the only 4 Suns players to put up double digits in points on the night.
The Warriors were without Klay Thompson who sat out due to injury. Stephen Curry scored 28 points but just six in the second half, when he was affected by missed shots and foul trouble. Curry, who entered the game tied for the NBA scoring lead, added 10 assists for his fourth double-double of the season. Draymond Green added 22 points and 9 rebounds for the Warriors. Leandro Barbosa started in place of Thompson but only contributed 12 points, about half of Thompson’s 23.8 points per game average.
Suns beat the Warriors behind a strong 36-16 fourth quarter, leaving the NBA with no unbeaten teams.

Denver Nuggets (1-5) at Portland Trail Blazers (4-3). Trailblazers defeat Nuggets 116-100.
Aldridge scored 28 points and had nine rebounds in the Trail Blazers’ 116-100 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night. Wesley Matthews added 21 points, making five of 13 3-point attempts. Damian Lillard had 11 points and 7 assists, Robin Lopez contributed 12 points and 9 rebounds and Nicolas Batum had 10 points and 9 rebounds. Portland made 16 of 31 3-point attempts and all 5 starters scored in double figures. Portland held the Nuggets to 17 third-quarter points.
Blazers forward Nicolas Batum was injured with just about a minute left in the game. The injury was to his right foot or ankle.
Denver has now lost 5 straight. Ty Lawson had 18 points for Denver after missing the team’s 110-101 loss at home to Cleveland on Friday night with a left ankle injury. Kenneth Faried led the Nuggets with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Timofey Mozgov had 7 points but 16 rebounds. Aaron Afflalo contributed 18 points as the team as a whole struggled to score points.

Charlotte Hornets (3-4) at Los Angeles Lakers (1-5). Lakers finally get their first win, defeat Charlotte 107-92.
Kobe Bryant and Jeremy Lin each scored 21 points, and Carlos Boozer added 16 with 5 rebounds. Kobe had 6 rebounds and 4 assists to go with his 21, Lin also had 7 assists. The Lakers scored 14 unanswered points in their dominating third-quarter run, including 8 in a row by Boozer, whose jumper gave them their first lead of the game at 61-59. The Lakers outscored the Hornets 34-13 in the quarter. Jordan Hill had 12 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds. Ed Davis had 10 points off the bench with 5 rebounds
Al Jefferson scored 23 points with 8 rebounds and Kemba Walker added 17 points with 4 assists for the Hornets. This is the first game for the Hornets this season not decided by single digits. Gary Neal added 10 of his 14 in the fourth off the bench and the hero from this weekend, Lance Stephenson, only had 6 points and 10 rebounds as he continues to struggle. Marvin Williams contributed 11 points and 5 rebounds.
The Lakers have now left the Philadelphia 76ers as the NBA’s only winless team at 0-7.
