
RECAP: Steve Kerr Wins First Game As An NBA Coach; Warriors Beat Kings 95-77 In Season Opener
The Golden State Warriors won their scrappy, often sloppy 2014-15 season opener against the Sacramento Kings 95-77 on Wednesday night. Stephen Curry led Golden State with 24 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. Klay Thompson finished with 19 points and Marrreese Speights added 16 points off the bench for Golden State.
Neither team shot particularly well from the field – the Warriors shot 44% but the Kings finished just over 30% from the field. This game featured a combined 48 turnovers between the two teams – 22 for Sacramento and 26 for Golden State. The Kings managed to score 49 first-half points but responded with two 14-point quarters in the second half.
DeMarcus Cousins had a team-high 20 points and 11 rebounds. Rudy Gay finished with 14 points, 9 rebounds and Darren Collison had 13 points and 8 assists for Sacramento.
