RECAP: San Antonio Takes Commanding 3-0 Series Lead With 118-103 Win
The San Antonio Spurs maintained their streak of efficiency and balanced scoring to beat the Portland Trail Blazers 118-103 in Game 3. Tony Parker finished with a team-high 29 points for San Antonio.
The Spurs once again imposed their dominance with a balanced attack that helped them create irrecoverable separation going into the second quarter. Another notable Spurs bench effort of 40 points heavily outmatched the Trail Blazers’ mere 2 points off the bench from Earl Watson. The Spurs bench has now scored a combined 140 points in this series. San Antonio never allowed Portland to fully heal from their 61-40 halftime advantage, and 14 Trail Blazers turnovers to the Spurs’ 7 didn’t help their effort.
It continued to be a struggle for both Damian Lillard and LaMarcus Aldridge to find their rhythm in this series offensively. Lillard (21 points, 9 assists) missed all six of his three-point attempts while Aldridge (21 points, 12 rebounds) shot just 9-for-23 from the field. Wesley Matthews led Portland with 22 points.
No team has come back from a 3-0 deficit to win an NBA Playoff series. Game 4 will be on Monday at 10:30 PM EST on TNT.
