RECAP: San Antonio Takes 3-2 Series Lead With Commanding 117-89 Win
The San Antonio Spurs bounced back from their double-digit Game 4 loss and beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 117-89 in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals. Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 22 points and 12 rebounds in 29 minutes. San Antonio now leads the series 3-2.
After a 32-32 stand-off after the first quarter, the Spurs were able to maintain and manufacture their offense more efficiently than the Thunder, outscoring them by ten in both the second and third quarters. Oklahoma City’s point total decreased each quarter from 32 to 15. San Antonio’s 55 bench points became a major factor, led by Manu Ginobili’s 19 points. Six players scored in double figures for the Spurs and they shot 13-26 (50%) from the three-point line.
Kevin Durant had a team-high 25 points for the Thunder. Russell Westbrook finished with 21 points and 7 assists. The only other scoring presence for Oklahoma City was Reggie Jackson with 11 points.
