RECAP: San Antonio Starts Hot With 122-105 Win; Spurs Lead WCF 1-0
The San Antonio Spurs never lost the lead since going up 6-5 with 9:18 left in the first quarter and took off for a 122-105 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. Tim Duncan had a team-high 27 points and 7 rebounds for the Spurs.
San Antonio jumped out to leads at different points in the game, and Oklahoma City would respond, but the Spurs stayed the course and sustained their patented, balanced, efficient scoring attack. The Spurs finished +9 on assists (28-19) and -7 on turnovers (16-9) while shooting 57% from the field, 52% from three (9-17), and holding the Thunder under 50% shooting for the game. The glaring stat was 66 points in the paint for the Spurs, who seemingly took full advantage of the loss of Serge Ibaka for Oklahoma City.
Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 28 points and 9 rebounds. Russell Westbrook finished with 25 points. Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker, Danny Green, and Manu Ginobili combined for 64 points for the Spurs.
Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals is Wednesday at 9:00 PM EST on TNT.
