RECAP: San Antonio Beats Portland In 116-92 Blowout Win; Spurs 1-0
The San Antonio Spurs never trailed the Portland Trail Blazers or lost control of a double-digit lead in their 116-92 win in Game 1 of the conference semifinals. Tony Parker led the Spurs with 33 points and 9 assists. LaMarcus Aldridge had a team-high 32 points and 14 rebounds for the Trail Blazers.
The Spurs were the more efficient team throughout the game, shooting above 50% from the field and holding Portland to under 40% shooting for the game. San Antonio produced another 50-point bench effort (see Game 4 vs. Dallas) led by Marco Belinelli’s 19 points. Portland turned the ball over 20 times and struggled to find their rhythm offensively, particularly in the first half where they only scored 39 points to San Antonio’s 65. The Trail Blazers shot just 4-for-16 from the three-point line, where they typically do their damage. Damian Lillard struggled with just six field goals on 17 points along with 6 turnovers. Wesley Matthews and Nicolas Batum combined for just 15 points for Portland.
Game 2 of this series will be on Friday at 9:30 PM EST on ESPN 2.
