RECAP: Portland Outlasts Houston For 123-120 Win In OT; POR Leads 3-1
The Portland Trail Blazers kept shooting and clawing their way to a third overtime meeting with the Houston Rockets and prevailed with a 123-120 victory plus a commanding 3-1 series lead for the first time in 14 years. LaMarcus Aldridge had a team-high 29 points for the Trail Blazers along with 10 rebounds. Three others for Portland scored 20+ points, Damian Lillard (23), Nicolas Batum (25), and Wesley Matthews (21).
Houston outscored Portland’s bench 35-17, but much to the help of rookie stand out Troy Daniels who finished with 17. Chandler Parsons had 26 points for the Rockets but went scoreless after the third quarter. It was timely shots and plays made particularly by Damian Lillard, Nicolas Batum, and Mo Williams down the stretch that helped Portland earn their advantage in yet another game in this series that came down to just a few possessions.
James Harden had a team-high 28 points for the Rockets. Dwight Howard finished with 25 points and 14 rebounds.
