Magic start hot and end even hotter when it counts in the fourth quarter to beat the Detroit Pistons 107-93.
Tobias Harris scored 14 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter to go along with his 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Nikola Vucevic finished with 25 points and 14 rebounds for Orlando, once again having the quietest double-double in the NBA. which had all five starters in double figures. Evan Fournier continued his hot start to the season by contributing 14 points with 8 assists. 12 points on 4-6 shoooting from 3 by Channing Frye who also grabbed 5 rebounds.
The Pistons were led by Caron Butler, who had 20 points including 12 of those in the third quarter, and Brandon Jennings, who scored 18 to go along with 6 assists. Butler also added 6 rebounds off the bench. Their frontcourt dynamic trio of Josh Smith, Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe combined for only 25 points on 10-of-28 shooting and only grabbed 17 rebounds.
Detroit struggled from the floor in the first half and shot only 42.5 %, and weren’t able to get the ball inside with at all. They dominated the glass throughout the game, grabbing a third of their own misses on the offensive glass even with the 3 big men for the Pistons struggling.
The Magic started the third with a 10-0 run before Jennings hit his fourth 3-pointer of the game, and things got worse for Detroit when Drummond picked up three fouls early in the second half. Then the Magic held a consistent lead all night.
Orlando Magic are 5-7. Detroit Pistons are 3-8.
