RECAP: Oklahoma City Survives For A 105-104 Win In Game 5 Thriller
The Oklahoma City Thunder were down by seven points with 49 seconds left in regulation but went on a frantic run from that point to pull out a 105-104 win against the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 5. Russell Westbrook led the Thunder with 38 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Kevin Durant finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds.
The score was in the Clippers’ favor 104-97 with 49.2 seconds remaining in the game after using a steady and balanced offensive attack of Chris Paul (17 points) Jamal Crawford (19 points) J.J. Redick (16 points) and Blake Griffin (team-high 24 points). Kevin Durant, who missed 16 of his first 20 shots, made a contested three-pointer, followed by a Jamal Crawford missed attempt and another quick Durant basket in transition, which cut the Clippers lead down to two.
After inbounding to Chris Paul he had the ball stolen while anticipating a foul, a turnover that led to a controversial possession call involving Reggie Jackson. Oklahoma City ended up with the basketball on the possession and Russell Westbrook was fouled by Chris Paul on a three-point attempt. Westbrook made all three free throws and the Thunder turned Paul over one last time to win the game in the final seconds.
Game 6 of this series will be on Thursday at 10:30 PM EST.
