The diminutive guard pairing of O.J. Mayo and Brandon Knight combined to score 35 as the Milwaukee Bucks fought off a late Oklahoma City Thunder run to win, 85-78.
Mayo scored 19 points with 4 rebounds coming off the bench and Brandon Knight added 16 points with 4 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the Bucks. The only other Bucks player in double figures was the “Greek Freak”, Giannis Antetokounmpo with 14 points and 9 rebounds off the bench. Zaza Pachulia had 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the game. Rookie sensation Jabari Parker only scored 6 points in 21 minutes of action.
Milwaukee trailed by 10 in the second quarter before taking a 41-38 lead at the half. Then, they never looked back.
Reggie Jackson had 29 points, 9 above his season average per game, added 4 rebounds and 4 assists for Oklahoma City. Serge Ibaka added 14 with 7 rebounds and 2 assists as the Thunder fell to 0-5 on the road. Anthony Morrow made his OKC debut with 10 points off the bench, playing 14 minutes, his first action with the Thunder. Oklahoma City is Still without Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and Perry Jones III all due to injuries.
The Bucks led by 5 after three quarters and extended their lead to as much as 11 in the fourth. Oklahoma City cut the lead to 4 on 2 free throws by Ibaka with 31 seconds left but got no closer.
Milwaukee Bucks are 4-4 on the season. Oklahoma City Thunder are 2-6.
