A playoff rematch from last year forces the Miami Heat to travel to the frigid north to New York and take on the Brooklyn Nets. Miami put the Heat on and had a number of small name players get hot and help them win as the Heat snapped a three-game losing streak by beating the Nets, 95-83.
The Heat were without Dwyane Wade, Luol Deng, Josh McRoberts and Shannon Brown but had solid play from enough role players to follow the lead of Mario Chalmers and Chris Bosh to acheive victory. Mario Chalmers scored a team-high 22 points with 5 assists the only other familiar Heat name, Chris Bosh, adding 15 points and 9 rebounds. Norris Cole had 12 points with 3 assists and James Ennis had 10 points with 8 rebounds off the bench. Rookie Shabazz Napier also contributed 11 points off the bench.
Bojan Bogdanovic scored a team-high 22 points for the Nets, who were held to their lowest point total of the season and lost their fourth straight. Jarrett Jack had 15 points with 4 assists off the bench. Deron Williams added 14 with 7 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals but he shot 4 of 13. Mirza Teletovic had 11 points off the bench and those 4 were the only Nets to score in double figures. A combined 15 points from Kevin Garnett, Joe Johnson and Brook Lopez.
Miami Heat are 6-5. Brooklyn Nets are 4-6.
