Both teams came into this one winless as the Sixers and Magic faced off at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night. This was a back-and-forth affair for most of the night, as there were 18 ties and 14 lead changes throughout the game.
The first quarter started off as the Tony Wroten show, as he posted 11 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals in the quarter. Unfortunately, he also had five turnovers in the frame, which helped give the Magic ample opportunity to remain in the game. Former Sixer Nik Vucevic totaled 8 points in the first period, as the Magic trailed by 2 at the end of the first.
The two teams continued to battle it out from that point on as the score ended up tied at the end of the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Sixers rookie KJ McDaniels served as a bright spot for Philly as he converted on three electrifying fast break dunks in the second half, including an alley-oop over Moe Harkless which also drew a foul.
As the game entered the 4th quarter, the Magic did everything they could to try and pull away, but the relentless play of Tony Wroten (27 points and 8 assists) and Brandon Davies (20 points) kept the Sixers right in it, until the last play of the game that is. With the score tied at 89 and 4.6 seconds left, the Magic were able to find Tobias Harris coming off of a down screen, and he was able to hit a contested jumper as time expired, to lift the Magic to a 2-point win. They move to 1-4 on the season as the Sixers drop to 0-5.
