Memphis Grizzlies finally got a strong effort from their struggling bench to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 107-102 to improve to a 7-1 record. Grizzlies also had a strong effort from some usually low scoring guards.
Mike Conley lead the Grizzlies with 23 points and 3 assists. Back-up point guard Beno Udrih had 16 points with 3 assists for Memphis. Courtney Lee scored 15 and Tony Allen dropped 12 points with 7 rebounds as six Grizzlies finished in double figures in points. Zach Randolph had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Marc Gasol struggled with only 8 points, shooting 3-10 from the field but had 8 rebounds and 9 assists. The Grizzlies bench outscored the Lakers bench 38-14.
Kobe Bryant led the now 1-6 Los Angeles Lakers with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, but shot 10 of 26 from the field and surpassed Boston Celtics great guard John Havlicek for the most missed field goals in NBA history. Carlos Boozer had a fantastic game for LA scoring 20 points, grabbing and 8 rebounds for the Lakers. Boozer fouled out early in the fourth and the Grizzlies just attacked inside on the Lakers at will. Wesley Johnson added 15 points, while Jordan Hill had 13 points and 14 rebounds but also shot bad from the field, shooting 6-17.

Memphis held a 17-point lead with under 7 minutes remaining in the fourth and seemed in complete control with Carlos Boozer fouling out as well. Kobe Bryant and the Lakers ran off 11 straight points and got within 3 two seperate times in the last 90 seconds but couldn’t get it done.
Los Angeles Lakers are 1-6. Memphis Grizzlies are 7-1.
