RECAP: Knicks Fail At Large Comeback, Fall To Bucks 117-113
The young Milwaukee Bucks earned their fifth win of the season by defeating the New York Knicks 117-113 in Milwaukee on Tuesday night. Ersan Ilyasova led the Bucks with a team-high 20 points off the bench. Seven Milwaukee Bucks players scored in double figures. Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with a game-high 26 points.
After an even 30-30 first quarter, the Knicks suffered to contend with the hot Bucks in the second quarter, particularly when Carmelo Anthony left the game for a period of time tending to his left knee in the Knicks locker room. Milwaukee outscored New York 36-19 in the second quarter and gained a lead as big as 26 points in the third quarter.
Although the Knicks kept fighting. They clawed their way back into the game and cut the Bucks’ lead to two in the final stretch with steady offense from Anthony along with hyperactivity from Iman Shumpert (21 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists) and Tim Hardaway, Jr. (24 points off the bench). But the final possessions of the game belonged to Milwaukee on the free throw line which held the Knicks at bay to complete their comeback.
Milwaukee won the rebounding battle 43-28 and shot 9-for-17 from the free throw line.
The Bucks are now 5-5 and the Knicks fall to 3-8.
