With J.R. Smith suspended and Carmelo Anthony shooting a woeful 5-21 from the field, the Knicks had a hard time finding offense for most of this contest. They were able to get 20 points from Tim Hardaway Jr. off the bench, who had his best game of the season by far. The triangle offense seems to continue to be a work in progress as they still don’t seem to be in sync at all in Derek Fisher’s new offense.
The Pistons were led by Greg Monroe who finished with 23 points on 8 of 17 shooting and a monstrous 18 rebounds. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope also came to play, tallying 20 points, including four three-pointers. Tonight was surprisingly the first win of the season for Detroit who lost their first three games.
With all of the talent they possess, they should be playing a lot better, but hopefully this win can get that proverbial monkey off of their backs and they can start to play up to their potential. The Pistons are back in action Friday night as the Bucks come to town while the Knicks take a ride over to Brooklyn for the battle of the boroughs.
