The Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 101-82 at home on Tuesday night. Damian Lillard led the Trail Blazers with 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists. Kevin Love had a team-high 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Cavaliers. Tristan Thompson had 10 points and 8 rebounds for Cleveland.
LeBron James finished with 11 points on 4-for-12 shooting. Kyrie Irving had 9 points on 3-for-17 shooting.
Cleveland took an 18-point dip from their first quarter (34 points) to second quarter (16 points). They scored under 20 points in three of the four quarters and shot 36.5% from the field. Portland, meanwhile, got 21 points and 6 rebounds from Wesley Matthews, 19 points and 6 rebounds from Robin Lopez, and 16 points from LaMarcus Aldridge. The Cavaliers’ early adjustment struggles were subject to the chemistry, activity, and home crowd of Portland on Tuesday night.
Portland is 3-2 and will face Dallas on Thursday night. Cleveland is 1-3 and will face the Utah Jazz in a back-to-back on Wednesday night.
