RECAP: Bulls Edge Out Pistons 102-91
The Chicago Bulls won a grind-out game against the Detroit Pistons 102-91 on Monday Night at the United Center. Derrick Rose led Chicago with 24 points and 7 assists. Jimmy Butler added 19 points for Chicago. Josh Smith had a team-high 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Pistons. Greg Monroe had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bulls shot over 50 percent in the first half and scored 60 points while Detroit only shot 35 percent in the opening half. Chicago’s offensive production took a dip in the third quarter (18 points) where the Pistons managed 26 points and made progress at their deficit that lasted throughout the game. They got the closest when they cut the Bulls lead down to two late in the fourth quarter, but Josh Smith launched an ill-advised three-pointer and Jimmy Butler knocked down a three-pointer the following possession.
Chicago finished the game on 44 percent shooting and Detroit shot 42 percent. The Bulls won the rebounding battle 49-46. The Pistons committed 15 turnovers.
The Bulls move to 6-2 and the Pistons fall to 2-5 on the season.
