RECAP: All 12 Games Covered From An Eventful NBA Friday Night

  • December 6, 2014
  • Charlie Taylor

TGIF indeed! 12 games of premium quality NBA Basketball? I’ll take that with a bowl of popcorn.

Want a blowout? We got it. Want a comfortable win? We got you covered. Want buzzer beaters? Check. Want OT games? We got two of them! Let’s quit the talking and get into the action.

Milwaukee Batter Miami For The Second Time This Season. 109-85 Final Score.
This is becoming a trend and as a Heat fan. I don’t like it. They’re struggling to find offense excluding Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Looking at the Heat’s box score makes me want to hurl. Bosh, 21 points. Wade, 28 points. Those are the only double digit scorers. That’s ugly. Well played Milwaukee. Considering they’ve been trash since time began. They’re actually winning games in convincing fashion. Kendall Marshall, on the bench! Dropped a team high 20 points. The Bucks genuinely look like they have a future. Jabari Parker is great. Giannis is crazy and everybody else is contributing. With good coaching. I could call them a Playoff team as early as next season.

Kemba Does It Again, Getting The Game Winner. Flushing The Knicks 103-102
This game went in a predictable way believe it or not. Charlotte slowly pulled away from NY for the first three quarters. Charlotte suddenly go brain dead at D in the 4th. Kemba Walker had to save the Hornets. 33-18 was the 4th quarter score. I feel sorry for the Knicks. They clawed back so valiantly. Led by Carmelo Anthony who got 32 for the game. But it was Kemba that was the difference. After the game Walker said that the game was frustrating, damn right it was. The only reason they’re in this mess is because they can’t string a solid, quarter to quarter game together.

OKC Start To Gel Once Again, Beating 1-18 Philly 103-91
The Oklahoma City Thunder’s season officially starts now. It’s game two with both Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, and they played like there was no injuries. Durant still has a minute limit at 30, which leaves Russell Westbrook to go off. We saw that in this game. 27 points and 7 assists for Westbrook. Philadelphia finally got their first win but are still, unfortunately, trash. But individually. I love some of them. Michael Carter-Williams is savage. Nearly got another triple double. 16 points, 14 assists and 7 boards. My boy Nerlens Noel. 11 points and 10 rebounds. For some of these players. Their win against Minnesota was their first in the NBA.

Washington Destroy Denver 119-89
The Wizards are genuinely looking like a great team. The have one of the best backcourts in the game. Gortat has upgraded his play. They controlled this game from start to finish. Out scoring the Nuggets in every quarter. Nuggets were just not ready for the bombardment that occurred in the nations capitol.

Celtics Dominate Arch Rivals Los Angeles Lakers 113-96
This rivalry is not even a rivalry anymore. It’s just sad thinking about all the monumental battles they’ve had. And then there’s this game where the player of the game was Tyler Zeller with 24 points and 14 rebounds. If you’re a basketball fan with some history knowledge. You will watch that game and cry your eyes out. How has it come to this?

Atlanta Comfortably Beat Hapless Nets 98-75
Brooklyn look so boring. Barring the occasional Deron Williams crossover, they play like San Antonio. Except with the Spurs, they actually win their games! All Atlanta had to do was show up. And that’s exactly what they did. Everybody was hot for ATL. They’re now 12-6 and look substantially better from last season.

Cavaliers Beat The East-leading Raptors 105-91
Now we all know that wins in December doesn’t mean much. But this can be seen as a signature win for the Cavs. It’s their 5th win in a row. They’re looking good. Even though Toronto were without DeMar DeRozan. A good team like that should not give that excuse. They’re in the big time now. Time to play like it.

Duncan Gets A Triple Double As San Antonio Beat Memphis 107-101
Did you know that Tim Duncan’s triple double last night was only the 4th of his career?! Who knew?! For Memphis their 22 home win streak is over. They still have a 15-4 record to boast. They’re still a force to be reckoned with.

Rockets Get EXTREMELY Lucky. Beating Minnesota 114-112 In OT
You might be looking at the score wondering. How did one of the most efficient offensive teams beat one of the worst defensive teams by 2 – in OT?! Props to Minnesota for nearly beating the Rockets. James Harden was on fire in the second. 16 straight points! The boy was unstoppable! The T’Wolves were still there though. The only thing that separated these two was a game winner by none other than Nick Johnson. Wait what?!

image

Suns Cool Off Hot Mavs 118-106
Finally a game where Goran Dragic had a stand alone game. 28 points and 13 assists. And it was right on time as the Mavs finally got taken out. Even if they got 33 points by Monta Ellis, the Suns proved to be hotter than the most efficient in the league at the moment.

Orlando Magic Edge The Utah Jazz 98-93
In one of the most boring games on paper. It was actually worth watching. Especially if you were a Jazz or Magic fan. Tobias Harris is continuing to impress me. Seriously. If he plays for a title contending team, he could easily be a great lieutenant or 3rd option. He can score, rebound, defend. He’s overall a solid player. And in this game he led the Magic once again to grab their 8th win of the season.

Kings Go Throwback As The “Rochester Royals” Beat Indiana 102-101
Even without DeMarcus Cousins, the Kings managed to squeeze out another W to take them 10-9. Rudy Gay dropped 27 points while Thompson got 10 boards. Indiana are just going along for the ride, unfortunately the ride includes a stop at Sacramento where they painfully lost in OT.
