RECAP: 10 NBA Games On Saturday Where Home Teams Ruled The Day

  • November 16, 2014
  • Charlie Taylor

image

10 games were on the docket last night. I was looking through all the games, checking highlights, box scores, the usual. And I noticed something. Only one away team got a W. Homecourt advantage was apparently a big boost last night. Lets get started in the Nations Capital.

Wizards Bench DOMINATE And Catch Orlando Out 98-93
Did you know that this is the best start to the Wizards season since the 70’s?! That’s how mediocre they’ve been the past few years, or should I say few decades? Well I am feeling good if I am a Wiz fan because they’re playing so balanced. For Orlando. They’ll win these types of games in a couple of years. Unfortunately. They can’t time travel into the future.

Cavaliers Get Ahead And Stay Ahead, Comfortably Beating Atlanta 127-94
This is the first game where the Cavaliers looked like a possible Finals team. This is the first time they looked impressive. They outscored the Hawks every quarter giving them no chance of coming back. LeBron and Kyrie combined for 52 points. That was the performance I was looking for.

Raps Get The Job Done, Beating Utah 111-93
The Raptors and the Bulls are having a game of 1-Up at the moment. Toronto won this game with good offense led by DeMar DeRozan’s 27 points and a good rebound game by Jonas Valenciunas with 14 boards. If they replicate that for every game, it’ll be smooth sailing from here. But the NBA isn’t that black & white.

3 Pacers Score 21, Beating Rose-less Bulls 99-90
Yes Derrick Rose was out again. Can we please stop with the hate? So he’s sitting out now and again. It’s because he’s injured. He clearly isn’t 100%. I find it funny that you all call Rose “soft” yet when half the Spurs squad sits out. Nobody backs an eyelid. Get your priorities straight!

Right, onto the game. The Pacers had a good night. Scola, Solomon Hill and AJ Price all got 21, propelling the Pacers to their 4th win of the season. The Bulls did have Jimmy Butler getting 32 but it wasn’t enough.

Grizzlies Beat Flailing Pistons 95-88
I don’t really want to talk about the Pistons anymore. They look good on paper but they always shoot themselves in the foot. Memphis on the other hand. Are solid on all accounts. They get shots, they stop shots. You think the Spurs have good fundamentals. The Grizzlies aren’t far off. Gasol got 23 points while Zach Randolph grabbed a stupid 22 rebounds! That’s a Playoff team people!

Defense Was Nowhere To Be Seen But Dallas Win The Scoring Battle Against The T’Wolves 131-117
The two teams both had a player dropping over 30. T’Wolves had KMart with 34 and Dallas had Monta Ellis who got 30. Unfortunately for Minnesota, nobody else got over 20 points. Tyson Chandler took care of the boards with 16. Dallas continue to be everybody’s darkhorse as they are now 7-3.

Damian Lillard Carries The Blazers To Beat Brooklyn 97-87
Even though they didn’t have LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum. Damian Lillard took the challenge and lead the Blazers to the victory with 28 points and 10 assists. Blazers have a four game win streak while the Nets are on a three game skid. Even though Deron Williams finally looks like a star player after three years of mediocrity. The Nets still don’t have enough to win close games. They’ll need to find a solution fast.

Sacramento Kings Upset San Antonio With A Key 94-91 Win
Now this was a game and a half. What happened Spurs? I thought you exposed everybody’s weaknesses? You’ve been rumbled. And who did it again? My boy DeMarcus Cousins! 25 points, 10 rebounds in a great win. Even though the Kings had only 3 players with over 10 points. They took the game play by play and managed to get the W. Great win for a Sacramento team that is really impressive considering they’re in the West.

Golden State Easily Take Care Of The Hornets 112-87
Considering the Hornets got their first road win just a couple of days ago. It was pretty clear that wouldn’t do the same to the Golden State Warriors. With a great first half, the Warriors came out to play. (If you get the reference give yourself a high five) Klay Thompson led the team in points with 21 and Curry led the team in assists with 9. Great balance and an easy W for the Warriors.

CP3 Drops 32 As The Clips Outscore The Suns. 120-107 The Final Score
The Clippers seem to have steadied the ship. But they can’t rely on Paul to drop 30 a game. DeAndre Jordan grabbed a crazy 18 rebounds. It was the 3rd quarter where the game tilted in LA’s favour, scoring 42 points. The Suns did try to make a comeback but the deficit was too much and they took the L.
