Our favorite singing sibling duo is back with some new heat for us. Chanelle and Sean Ray who official go by the group name RAY are preparing to unleash their upcoming EP “Rehabilitation”. The last we heard or rather seen the two was back in December 2015 when they unleashed the official video for their record “Here Today, Gone Today“. Looking to follow where they left off and even better, prepare us for the “Rehabilitation” EP, we get the first single produced by Mantra. “Back Words” catches Chanelle Ray starting things off with;
“I say things I regret, you say things I won’t forget”.
Immediately the brain (well mine) starts formulating exactly what the song is about and as you continue to listen to Chanelle it’s clear that “Back Words” is a play on “Backwards”. The message is explained thoroughly in the hook as we hear,
“knowing that we shouldn’t go back…wards, saying things we can’t take back…words”.
I am pretty sure we all at some point in our lives have gone through the situations expressed by not only Chanelle but especially Sean Ray;
“I know I need some work, I hate to see you hurt. This pressures stress because I am underpaid and overworked. A N***a’s tryna find the words I’m frustrated when will you learn, just hold me down and I’m.. gonna make sure that I put you first”
