
Ray Allen’s agent, Jim Tanner, issued a release today saying his client will not play in the NBA this season, but will consider a comeback in the 2015-2016 NBA Season.
“Ray has received enormous interest from a number of NBA teams this season,” Tanner said. “We will communicate with interested teams as Ray makes a decision for the 2015-2016 season.”
Allen, the NBA’s all time leader in three pointers made, is a two-time NBA champion who last played with the Miami Heat a season ago. There were reports that Allen may have signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers to join former Heat teammate Lebron James, but that was shut down last week.
Allen, who hasn’t officially retired yet said he would like to spend more time with his family and that he’s enjoying his time off.
“Over the past several months, I had a lot of time to deliberate what’s best for me,” Allen said. “I ultimately decided that I will not play this NBA season.” I’m going to take the remainder of this season, and the upcoming off-season to reassess my situation, spend time with my family, and determine If I will play in the 2015-2016 season.
