Ray Allen is set to undergo surgery to remove bone spurs from both his ankles on Wednesday. The veteran had been fighting through the pain for most of the season, the lack of ability to plant and rise on his jump-shot was affected so much that he shot a career low .726% from the free-throw line during the playoffs.
After the C’s Game 7 loss to the Heat Allen alluded to getting surgery as soon as possible.
“That’s my first priority, just going into surgery sometime,” he said Saturday night. “If I (could) do it tomorrow, I would do it tomorrow. That’s probably my main concern right now, is taking care of that. My body feels good. That’s been my only issue. After that, it’s hard to say.
“There’s still a lot of basketball left in my legs.”
