Ray Allen hasn’t played basketball in three years and hasn’t been a Celtic for much longer but he still receives flack from Boston fans about his perceived betrayal. Allen left the Celtics in favor of the Heat two years before retiring, many of the Celtics players and fans view this as a disloyal move, despite his name being in trade rumors constantly. So, the former sharpshooter took to Instagram to express his feelings about the ill will.
In a comment responding to a Celtic fan page on Instagram, Ray Allen tells those fans they need to get over it.
“Y’all need to get over it!!! where were you all when the team tried to trade me.
“It’s a business, we go where it’s necessary just like you all do in your jobs!!!!
“I will always be a Celtic not matter what any of you say. Get over it!!!!”
Celtics fans will likely never get over whatever unspoken code Ray Allen broke when he went to Miami but it appears he is trying to stop the hate, one Instagram comment at a time. That’ll work.
