The Philadelphia 76ers head into next season as legitimate title contenders in the Eastern Conference, but there are still certainly some holes remaining on the roster. One example is backup point guard after losing TJ McConnell to the Indiana Pacers in free agency.
However, the Sixers have reportedly found their new backup floor general in Raul Neto. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Sixers will sign Neto to a one-year deal worth the veteran’s minimum.

Though Raul Neto wasn’t the flashiest name on the free-agent market by any means, he’s still a sneaky good pickup for the 76ers, especially at the minimum. Neto was drafted by the Utah JAzz four years ago and has spent every season of his professional career there before signing with Philly.
Though Neto played sparingly in Utah, he still showed flashes of potential. Neto was often the fourth of fifth guard in their rotation, but he will likely be expected to contribute more with the Sixers. Neto and second-year man Zhaire Smith figure to comprise a backup backcourt that many will believe to be the weakness of an otherwise strong 76ers squad.
