With just under 11 minutes left in the second quarter Ramon Sessions fed Rasual Butler on the fast break for a one-handed slam over Dorell Wright. The dunk gave the Wizards a 31-22 lead over the Potland Trail Blazers.
Rasual is more known for his clutch three-point shooting for the Wizards, and is not one to throw down a dunk even in open space. This dunk was a huge surprise for both Wizards fans, and the team themselves. You can tell from the bench reaction that not only was the team excited by the dunk, but it was not expected by anybody who was sitting on that sideline.
The dunk also set the tone, as the Wizards went on to lead the Trail Blazers by a score of 60-40 at halftime. It’s safe to say this play gave the Wizards a huge momentum shift and set the tone to guide them to a strong finish in the first half.
Seeing more of these plays from Rasual down the stretch would be nice, but for Wizards fans, just keep hoping Rasual will be able to make a difference in the playoffs. Dunks like these would be great, but as long as he is making plays, Wizards fans will not be able to complain.
