Former 14-year NBA veteran Rasual Butler and his wife, R&B singer Leah LaBelle, have reportedly died after a car accident in California.
TMZ first reported the news.
Ex-NBA player Rasual Butler and his wife — a singer who appeared on “American Idol” — were both killed in a single car crash in Studio City, CA early Wednesday morning, TMZ Sports has learned.
38-year-old Butler — who was drafted by the Miami Heat in 2002 — lost control of his Range Rover around 2 AM, struck a parking meter and slammed into a wall. The car flipped.
Officers believe the car was speeding before it lost control.
Butler, 38, recently played for the BIG 3 league after spending 14 years in the NBA. He was drafted in the second round of the 2002 NBA Draft by the Miami Heat. He went on to play with New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets, Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, Washington Wizards and ended his NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs in 2016. He recently played in the BIG 3 league last season.
Leah LaBelle, 31, was an R&B singer signed to Epic Records. She placed 12th on the 3rd Season of “American Idol” back in 2004.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to their family and friends.
