According to RealGM’s Shams Charania, reigning Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams is expected to receive strong interest from teams that include the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets, providing very strong competition for the Toronto Raptors. This is definitely not good news for die hard Toronto Raptors fans.
While there were countless times Lou brought the Raptors back into a game by nailing some deep threes and drawing his trademark calls from beyond the arc, there were too many games where Lou would not stop chucking, especially while another player on the floor had the hot hand.
The Raptors acquired Lou Williams in an off-season trade last year with the Atlanta Hawks after he tore his ACL during the 2012-13 season. Now after finding success in Toronto, Lou, 28, could reportedly be looking for three- or four-year deal in the $8 to $9 million a season range.
As one of the most potent scorers on the market, Williams could scan leaguewide possibilities of a three-year deal in the range of $27 million or four years for $35 million.
Lou William could be the best scorer the Raptors have on most nights almost like a offensive nuclear weapon, but on the other he could shoot the team right out of a close game. Defensively, Lou is too small to defend bigger/stronger two guards which is always going to be a liability for the Toronto Raptors moving forward but his willingness to attack the basket and draw foul calls has never disappointed.
In his first season with the Raptors, Williams averaged a career-high 15.5 points per game on 40.4 percent shooting on his way to being named the league’s best sixth man. Let’s hope the Raptors make the right decision on what to do with Lou Williams this off season.
Lou’s best game came against the Cavs on November 22nd, in which he tallied a career high 36 points:
