This has been a tough offseason for countless teams, fans, and players. However, there is one man that has it worse than anyone in the NBA right now and he goes by the name of Luke Ridnour. The Oregon product had been traded four times within a six day span from June 24th-June 30th. He began the offseason a member of the Orlando Magic and was first traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. He then headed to the Charlotte Hornets, which resulted in a third trade to Oklahoma City. OKC then traded him across the border to the Toronto Raptors, all of this happening in less than a week.
Now as first reported by ESPN, the guard has been waived by the Toronto Raptors and is now offically on the free agent market.
After being traded four different times this offseason, Luke Ridnour finally will have a chance to choose for himself where he’d like to play next season.
The Toronto Raptors waived Ridnour on Thursday on the same day they officially announced that forward DeMarre Carroll had signed a multiyear contract.
Ridnour has been thrown around the NBA landscape like a hot potato and it’s impossible not to feel for him. Personally I think Ridnour can still provide some decent contributions to a team off the bench. This must have been a brutal stretch for the guy and his family but he probably knows that the NBA is a business more than anything else as the 34 year old had already played for several teams throughout his 12 year career. Now as a free agent he is free to choose wherever he wants to play next season, hopefully he gets to play on a team that actually keeps him for more than 24 hours.
