The Toronto Raptors shook up their assistant coaching positions today. Dwane Casey received word early in the season that he will be staying with the Raptors as their Head Coach for yet another season. Despite this, his assistants didn’t get the same opportunity.
According to the Raptors MR group:
#Raptors announced they have hired Rex Kalamian, Andy Greer & Jerry Stackhouse as assistant coaches on Dwane Casey’s staff. #RTZ

Stackhouse has been brought in to develop younger players and rookies. With the Raptors new Mississauga 905 starting, player development will be a big focus for the Raptors this year. Andy Greer was Tom Thibodeau’s defensive assistant coach, which is probably the Raptors biggest steal of the offseason. Rex Kalamian was an assistant coach under Scott Brooks. All 3 pose an opportunity for the Raptors to develop in areas they need help in. The Raptors will be able to develop their players and get a well-known NBA face on the bench. Greer will be able to improve their 21st overall defense. Raptors are in good shape for next year.
