As it is expected to happen every season, NBA teams try to come up with different and new ways to campaign for their players that are involved in any sort of conversation for NBA awards.
We’ve seen the Charlotte Hornets do their part for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to win Defensive Player of the Year by sending a home security kit to the media. The Houston Rockets sent a video book for James Harden to win MVP. Most recently, the Los Angeles Clippers came out with a video detailing why DeAndre Jordan should win DPOY, oddly enough featuring a song by Drake.
Now the Toronto Raptors and their ‘Global Ambassador‘ Drake have partnered up to give some love to their sixth man, Lou Williams. Williams and Drake have teamed up recently involving the Canadian rapper and the Raptors collaboration for a clothing line. The pair worked together on a promotion video involving the ‘6 man’ song by Drake from his ‘If You’re Reading this it’s Too Late‘ “album”.
The relationship between the rapper and the ball player seems to be so tight that all parties involved came up with an idea. They took first part of the Lou Williams shoutout from Drake’s song to promote Williams to win the Sixth Man of the Year. The Raptors continue to prove why they get called the ‘Toronto Drakes’ by many in the basketball twitter world.
They sent media members a toy where you press the buzzer/button and it plays a part of Drake’s ‘6 man’ song involving Williams.
J.E. Skeets of NBATV’s ‘The Starters’ posted the ‘buzzer’ on his instagram account.
And Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe graced us with a video of the buzzer in-action.
