At first glance, when DeMar DeRozan went down against the Dallas Mavericks, it look like he just slipped and possibly hurt his leg. We later found out he strained his groin when he slipped and fell in the Raptors defeat on Friday night, 106-102.
Check out the injury.

Now, a day later and we find out it’s actually way worse and possibly bad news for the Raptors faithful.
DeMar Derozan, according to reports, will be out for an extended period of time, with no timetable on his return.
More from Steve Kyler of Basketballinsiders.
Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan diagnosed with a a torn left adductor longus tendon – no timetable for his return to basketball activity.
— Steve Kyler (@stevekylerNBA) November 29, 2014
The adductor longus is a skeletal muscle located on the inside of the upper thigh – recovery from a tear can by up to 12 weeks.

The unknown on DeRozan is the severity of the tear — recovery could be as simple as several weeks – if surgery required much longer.

Non-Surgical recovery tends to lean towards 6-7 weeks — surgical repair tends to lean more towards 12 weeks.

Flat out. This sucks for the Raptors. DeRozan, without a doubt, is the Raptors star and their leader. He was an All-Star last year and was off to a great start. The Raptors are currently first in the east, with a record of 13-3 and DeRozan himself was first on the team in scoring with 19.4 points per game.
Look to see guys like Kyle Lowry, Terrence Ross and Lou Williams step up to fill some of that void as well as the Raptors going deep in the bench to play guys like Landry Fields and Bruno Caboclo.
For now, the Raptors have a chance to see what some of these guys got on the squad.
