The NBA announced on Friday that Sacramento Kings point guard Rajon Rondo has been suspended one game. The suspension comes as a result of Rondo “directing a derogatory and offensive term” toward an official in the Kings’ loss to the Celtics on December 3rd. Rondo was given two technical fouls and ejected after the incident.
The most surprising part of this suspension is the timing. The Kings have played four games since the initial incident making it seem as though the NBA did not think it was worthy of a suspension. Nevertheless after a full week, the NBA office has decided to suspend the point guard.
Rondo’s suspension will be served during Tuesday’s game against the Houston Rockets.
