Rajon Rondo saw his 2016-17 campaign come to a premature end due to an injury in the first round of the 2017 NBA Playoffs. Rondo was one of the driving forces behind his Chicago Bulls pushing the Celtics’ backs against the wall. Chicago took a surprising 2-0 series lead over the Celtics going into game three in Chicago. But that’s all the Bulls would get, they would go on to lose four straight games as they were forced out of the playoffs.
The Bulls were obviously missing out on an important player and their point guard position was in flux without a steady hand to lead the offense. But Rajon Rondo says that if he was still around, the Bulls would’ve pulled off the ultra rare eight over one sweep.

“It was very frustrating, especially the way we were clicking at the time,” Rondo said. “We had a good chemistry going and I thought we were some making great adjustments in Games 1 and 2.”
“Honestly, yeah,” Rondo said Monday on Inside the NBA when Kevin Garnett asked if he thought Chicago would’ve swept the Celtics.
Despite multiple cases of Bulls drama with him at the center during the season, Rondo averaged 11.5 points, 10 assists, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.5 steals on 42.3 percent shooting in back-to-back wins in his short NBA Playoffs run. His play leading up to his injury might be a reason why Chicago wants to bring back the NBA Champion point guard.
