Rajon Rondo sprained his ankle last night against the Utah Jazz and is listed as a game-time decision for the Celtics game with the Brooklyn Nets later tonight. Rondo sustained the injury in the second quarter of an eventual Boston win, and although he returned to the Boston bench, he did not participate in second-half action. Head coach Doc Rivers did not reveal the severity of the sprain and said Rondo sitting out was more a precautionary measure.
“I just felt like it’s too early to take that chance [putting Rondo back in],” Rivers said.
Pressed on the severity of the injury, Rivers added, “I have no idea. Look, with a sprained ankle — tomorrow, you’ll know more.”
Rondo will be re-evaluated before tonight’s game.
