Chicago Bulls point guard Rajon Rondo fractured his thumb in the team’s game two win over the Boston Celtics. The injury is a big blow to the Bulls who are hoping to complete a huge upset over the East’s top seed.
The initial diagnosis did not immediately make it clear when the point guard could return to the court. According to Rondo, doctors have now told him it would take about two weeks:

With that timetable, Rondo could conceivably return at some point in the second round of the playoffs if the Bulls do indeed finish off the job against Boston.
In their first game without Rondo in the postseason, the Bulls were blown out, seemingly missing their floor general. Rondo had been averaging 11.5 points and 10 assists per game to start the postseason, playing the best stretch of his season just as the Bulls seemingly found their footing.
It will be tough to finish the job without Rondo, but the Bulls are up 2-1 with homecourt advantage in the remaining (potential) four games. If they make it, they could see him return sooner than expected.
