The Oakland Raiders think they drafted themselves a steal with their 5th round selection of DeAndre Washington. At this point the Raiders are expecting a big contribution from the rookie out of Texas Tech. Offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave went into more detail below.
“He’s really worked well for us thus far,” Musgrave said, via the East Bay Times. “So we’re putting him in different situations to get a feel for he’s strengths and how we can tailor plays, tailor situations so he can really flash for us. He’s going to be good in first, second or third down.”
Latavius Murray will be the opening day starter but it wouldn’t shock me if Washington served a vital role in the Raider passing game. Roy Helu failed to serve as a quality back up a year ago and sadly Trent Richardson couldn’t even make the team. As the season gets closer we will get a better understanding of what DeAndre Washington’s potential role will look like.
