On Sunday, San Francisco police named Smith a suspect in a domestic violence incident that occurred with his fiancee on Saturday night. Smith fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, according to TMZ.
Cops tell us the charges listed on the warrant include willful infliction of corporal injury (aka DV), assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism — all of which are misdemeanors.
Smith later posted this cyptic message on instagram with the caption “Wtfoh you all are wrong”.
He later checked himself into rehab thanks to the assistance of his fiancee’s parents.
Now, we spoke with Smith’s fiancee who confirms she is the alleged victim in the incident — but says the most important thing to her is that Smith gets help for his substance abuse problem.
“I can tell you this … Aldon called my parents and asked them to take him to rehab,” the woman tells us.
“He complied. They went and got him. I was not there. My family took him and had him checked in.”
“I wish the BEST for Aldon. And I’m scared for his life with his addiction. I cannot comment on the altercation but I can tell you I love him and so happy he turned to my family who considers him family and hopefully he gets the help he truly needs.”
According to ESPN, Smith turned himself in to law enforcement on Tuesday afternoon.
Former Oakland Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith turned himself in to San Francisco police on Tuesday and was booked at 3:25 p.m. ET on domestic violence-related charges.
He is being held on $30,000 bond on misdemeanor charges of willful infliction of corporal injury, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism (less than $400).
Smith was a San Francisco 49ers first round pick in 2011 and a first-team All-Pro in 2012. The future was bright for the super athletic linebakcer but numerous run-ins with the law has all but certainly derailed his career. He has been arrested on DUI charges multiple times and has faced weapons charges, which were later reduced and he’s still currently suspended by the NFL.
