A photo of R2-D2 and director JJ Abrams has appeared online which sparked rumors that R2-D2 will return to ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’.
Abrams production company Bad Robot tweeted the photo with the caption “Hi from the workshop! #StarWarsVII,”.
R2-D2 has appeared in all six films in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise.
Abrams has shown love to R2-D2 before. The director included the droid as flying debris in ‘Star Trek: Into the Darkness’.
The next film is expected to bring back franchise stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford.
‘Star Wars Episode VII’ will hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
