R. Kelly reportedly faces a mental and physical health decline while behind bars awaiting trial on federal sex crimes.
The R&B singer and songwriter and his legal team hope to get R. Kelly released to seek treatment and be prepared for trial. Reported by The Chicago Sun-Times, R. Kelly’s lawyer Steve Greenberg claims the singer is dealing with numbness in his hand, anxiety, and an untreated hernia.
Greenberg filed court documents with the Eastern District of New York. R Kelly currently remains in the general population lock up in Chicago’s Metropolitan Correctional Center. Greenberg alleges his client is not receiving adequate treatment for his issues.
Alongside his health issues, Greenberg says R. Kelly does not have fair visitation privileges.
“His visits are severely restricted; presently, he is only allowed one unrelated person to visit. In other words, although he lives and has lived with two lady friends, only one of them is allowed to be on his visiting list, and after 90 days he is required to switch.” he writes.
