Quinta Brunson is set to star alongside Anna Akana, Ana Gasteyer and Matteo Lane in the Syfy comedy series, Magical Girl Friendship Squad. Joining the show’s leads, Helen Hong, Eric Bauza, Sarah Sherman, Jamie Loftus, Patti Harrison and many others will also work on the series.
Led by Kelsey Stephanides, the series will follow two young women named Alex and Daisy. The two are tasked with saving the world, but often struggle to pay their rent and a number of other daily tasks. Who doesn’t?
Brunson will take on the role of Alex, a realist with soft spot. Meanwhile, Akana wil play the role of Daisy, a pop culture fanatic who deals with commitment issues. Other recurring roles include Nut, a red panda who is also the creator of the universe, and Corvin, a human henchman and assistant.
Animated short-form episodes produced by Cartuna are currently available. However, Syfy has not yet announced when the long-form version of the series will be available.
