The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to terms with former Utah Jazz Head Coach Quin Snyder to be the next Head Coach of the franchise. Snyder’s deal with the Atlanta Hawks is for five years including the rest of the 2022-23 NBA season. This deal moved quickly after the team fired Head Coach Nate McMillian earlier in the month. The team quickly moved to lock in Snyder as the franchise’s next Head Coach. Snyder and the Jazz agreed to part ways in the offseason after it became clear the team would move in a rebuilding direction.

In eight seasons with the Utah Jazz as their Head Coach, Quin Snyder led the team to an overall record of 372-264 and an NBA Playoff record of 21-30. In those playoff runs the team lost three times in the first round and three times in the Western Confrence semifinals. The Hawks moved to hire Snyder who was expected to return to coaching in the NBA at some point in the near future.
Agter firing Nate McMillan the team promoted assistant coach Joe Prunty to the interim Head Coach position. He along with the rest of the coaching staff are expected to be retained for at least the rest of the 2022-23 NBA season. With an overall record of 31-30 the Atlanta Hawks are currently the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference Standings. Snyder could be coaching in Playoff games this season if all goes well.
