Utah Jazz forward Derrick Favors will be sidelined indefinitely and is expected to be out ‘a while’, head coach Quin Snyder says:
The Jazz aren’t providing a specific timetable on Derrick Favors, but Quin Snyder said he will be out “for while”

Favors, 25, has seen his 2016-’17 campaign negatively altered due to injury so far. He was examined and had an MRI yesterday, which revealed a bone contusion on his left knee.
Favors, a promising, valuable player who is a double-double threat on a nightly basis, is an integral part of Utah’s young nucleus. Should he miss significant time, their chances of contending in the Western Conference would take a dramatic hit.
Jazz fans remain optimistic that Favors’ injury isn’t severe enough to sideline him for an extended time period, but could be forced to face the reality no fan wants to face with their team’s superstar. In speaking with two doctors who have a great deal of knowledge about this injury, the sense I got was most basketball players at the pro level will typically miss two-plus weeks with such injury. Some can miss more than a month.
Of course, this could vary depending on the athlete’s rehab progression, along with any potential setbacks along the way.
Favors has averaged 10.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 24 minutes through 11 games this season. The Jazz hope his timetable will be a matter of days, rather than a matter of weeks; but that hope seems highly unlikely right now.
