It was reported this week that Utah Jazz shooting guard Alec Burks, who’s been out for about three months with an ankle injury, would make his return to the Jazz lineup against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night. Burks is still listed as out, putting more speculation on his timetable.
Mike Sorensen of the Deseret News recently reported that Burks is not expected to play for the rest of the season. Jazz head coach Quin Snyder has refuted the claim that Burks is shut down.

Part of Snyder’s response to the question of Burks being shut down was, “that’s just erroneous”.
Being that there was a report about Burks’ return, even if it ended up being inaccurate, it suggests that he is that much closer to being ready to go. In their battle for the final playoff spot, Burks would certainly help Utah’s efforts. For the time being, there’s no telling if we’ll see Burks play again this season, but if he does, he’ll be playing in the postseason for the first time in his career.
