
On September 25, 2025, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson will receive the SummerStage Icon Award at the City Parks Foundation Gala in New York, New York. Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment will also be recognized at the annual charity fundraiser.
In addition to receiving the SummerStage Icon Award, Questlove will be behind the 1s and 2s for a dance party during the annual gala. Previous performers recognized on the City Parks Foundation Gala’s website include Janelle Monae, Nile Rodgers, and Steven Tyler, among others.
SummerStage, sponsored by Capital One, hosts more than 70 shows in 13 parks across all five boroughs of New York City. This past weekend, Questlove and The Roots performed at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park as part of the SummerStage series. Hosted in association with Queens Borough President Donovan Richards and NYC Parks, the concert also featured the legendary DJ Scratch. Upcoming shows include GORILLAFEST featuring Busta Rhymes, Doug E. Fresh, and Rakim.
In addition to performing in New York, Questlove is also celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Roots’ debut album, Do You Want More?!!!??! The Roots are set for two shows in northern California in August, followed by the 2025 Blue Note Jazz Festival’s Black Radio Experience on August 29-31, 2025.
